3d Artist

Postby tesher07 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 9:18 am

Hello, I'm Tesher07 from Moddb, and I created a thread looking for a secondary mod and your the only mod that had caught my slightest interest but I'm not fully sold on your project. I would like to apply but I want full reassurance that there is gradual progress being made rather than none. I do not texture so I would hope that you would have a texture artist on hand :D. I am currently an enviromental artist working on the mod Guard Duty for Half-Life 2 but can't show much of my work due to it not being released to the public.

You can see some of my work on moddb: http://www.moddb.com/members/tesher07

I am strictly an enviromental artist and would like to be in a team that is fully dedicated and active every day, and I hope to see that if I do join your development team. I hope to hear from you soon.

hi tesher07
i'm very sorry but we need people with texturing skill for environement modeling
ok if you don't animate you own model, but we can't manage the project with only that .
Could you create a model of trees ? unfold the mesh to prepare it for the possible texturer ?
if you haven't a good understanding on how a texturer works, how can create a good uvmap for your model ?
so much time this has revealed then we must remake all the model from the beginning.

now , this is my last question :
have you any experience on the source engine and his tools ? vmt file and qc script file HLmodel viewer ?

sorry but if you don't have this knowledge that can give to the team more works than if you wasn't there :/
That issue is the issue than we don't want to have again in our management. so we using of a stricted prevention on that matter
but we appreciate your purpose, that is not a problem :)

good continuity

Thanks, but I think I will pass knowing the current situation of the mod. I understand your need for a concept artist but the face that you outright assume I don't know how to unwrap considering I don't texture is pretty illogical. If actually taken time to look at my work you could see that I textured those models which means I unwrapped them... I do not have alot of experience with importing and exporting if that is what you mean. I have attempted it before but for some reason it didn't work. Thanks for the offer and best of luck.

Thanks, but I think I will pass knowing the current situation of the mod.

There is no "situation" tesher07. Expressing yourself like that won't win you any points. And it is definitely you who is the one that assumes. Redeyes only posted questions to you and explained why it could end up a problem if you didn't know how to best unwrap a model. Even I who unwrap model may end up tweaking a thing or two to get the most out of the texture I'm making. Sure simple models might not require that but as they get more advanced you need to know the Unwrapping "puzzle" well.

Good luck to you too with your projects tesher07!

When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.

Thought I'd pass a random but fitting quote of the day here.
